House in Shinyurigaoka
Kawasaki-city, Kanagawa, Japan
The site is located at the eastern edge of the Tama Hills, with a slope running along the gap between hills and valleys, high ground and low ground.
The exterior walls and roof were raised to control light, wind, and sight lines, and openings were created in the spaces between walls and between roofs to create a skip-floor interior.
As one moves through the interior, the view through the openings creates an experience of continuity between the interior and the exterior.
